PAY YOUR DUES!
That’s it! You put in the work and you pay your dues. Is it that difficult? Seriously, you are no different from anyone else on the planet. You might have a bit more education, be paid just a little more or a little less than the person next to you but all of that is irrelevant when it comes to overnight success.
You put in the hard work. You do the time and then maybe by the grace of some supreme being you are noticed. The trick is to stay noticed. To stay relevant. No matter what, you have to stay relevant and how do you stay relevant?
YOU MUST OUT WORK YOURSELF!
You work harder, smarter, and longer than you did before you are noticed. Remember, the guy who had that one music hit but failed to ever get another hit on the charts? Yeah, neither do I.
However, I do remember that guy that wrote book after book after book until he got noticed and got remembered. Yeah, he paid his dues and guess what he is still paying them. Stephen King is that guy. Yeah, you know exactly who Stephen King is and what he has written. You had better believe he works hard to stay relevant.
He works hard whether people buy one book or buy no books. Musicians that constantly hit the top of the charts also work hard whether people buy one CD or no CD. It does NOT matter; they will work hard to continually pay their dues.
Remember what others see as overnight success is like a meteor falling through the night sky. What you see is the BRIGHT light, what you do not see is the millions of miles that piece of rock traveled to reach the earth. Sure it looks bright and brilliant but what no one really considers is the cold, dark and lonely journey through space that chunk of space dirt took to get here and shine right before your eyes.
Pay your dues and never forget that it is you that’s paying them. You pay your dues your way and do not worry about how others want you to pay your dues.
Work Hard, Do Good, Worry about yourself and that is the only way I know to become an overnight success.
