Look & Learn Before It’s Too Late

Recently, I ran across a situation where I was asked if I had done something. I had.

Seems to be an ongoing trend where individuals would rather be spoon-fed what they want to know (or demand to know) only to already have the answer in front of them. Meaning, they see themselves as too important to look for the response themselves.

Folks, Leaders cannot go around assuming there is no response. The answers are always there. Sometimes, there does not need to be any fanfare when something is completed. It is just done.

Leaders, please know and understand sometimes people will do what you say without following up with any micromanaging or “passively-aggressive” behavior. Only when it is NOT done should you act.

Remember, it is how you approach things that in your eyes may be “proactive” but is actually a front for being passive-aggressive. It is a fine line and if you do NOT see that fine line then guess what? You ARE being passive-aggressive!

About Putting In The Weekend Work

As the sun rises (like it does every other day) it is your mission to meet the new day’s challenges and raise the stakes by overcoming those challenges then adding a few more before the day comes to an end.

Remember as a leader your job does NOT end Friday at 5PM and starts up on Monday at 8AM. If that is what you believe then you are NOT a leader. A Leader is ALWAYS ON! The only time a leader stops is when followers have lost confidence in your leadership ability.

Seriously, if you believe it stops on Friday and begins on Monday then please stop FOOLING yourself because you are NOT a leader, hell you are not even a manager. You are a follower, a “life-long follower”.

Why are you are follower? I say this because when the time comes you would rather head out to the club, sleep in, or better still IGNORE your own personal growth and development.

A true leader makes time to go out, enjoys sleeping in but most of all and above all else makes personal and professional growth and development a top priority. Believe It!

A real leader recognizes once Monday 8AM rolls around it is about the individual(s) he or she leads. It is about their time to grow (personally and professionally). It is about them shining because you are their leader and not the other way around, that’s a manager mindset.

Again, I challenge you to change my mind: If you do not believe that your duty is to ensure others are Learning, Growing, & Developing then you are NOT a leader.

Now get to work on making yourself better than yesterday. Be a better example today than you were yesterday and most of all you deserve to be considered a leader. Do what it takes to lead.

Have A Great Weekend.

NEW VIDEO: The Continuing Need For Training In The Workplace (The United Airlines incidents)

Now online is a new video by David G. Guerra. In this video, David talks about the continuing need for organizations to provide training to their employees, contractors, sub-contractors, and any other stakeholder. In this video, David cites the recent United Airlines incidents involving the death of a family pet and the mishandling of the flight itinerary of a different family pet.

All professional organizations and individuals already know the value of training (giving or receiving) and how it makes everyone better. However, in the modern workplace that just happens to be on 24/7/365 yes I am including holidays because the Internet is never closed, there is almost little to no time to take off in order to get some training done.

Training is a necessary evil and a life saver depending on your where in your organization’s lifecycle you happen to find the need to train others (HINT: ALL THE TIME).
