Day 50 of 100 Days of 100 Ways To Rule Your World

Having a charismatic personality is something that many want, few achieve, and even less maintain.

You’ve seen that person all your life. They are always surrounded by people and sometimes they are the life of the party (even if it’s your party). What??? Someone else is the life of your party? Why not you? If you are the host of the party, you MUST be the life of the party. Seriously, why hand that power over to someone else?

Come on; do you really like being behind the scenes? No! No one does!

Start doing something to change all that. Take your party back and be the life of the party called your life.

Here are a few things you can do now (remember start off small and BE PATIENT):

  • Read today’s newspaper
  • Read the latest bestseller novel
  • Join a public speaking group (i.e., Toastmasters)
  • Learn a little magic
  • Learn a card trick or two (or three or more)

All of these will give you a little confidence that you can cultivate and grow. With all that confidence you are sure to take your rightful place: the life of your party.

However, something to think about: If you have the confidence to learn a parlor trick or two or join Toastmasters or something (anything) that puts you outside of your comfort zone then you already have all the confidence you need (but a little more doesn’t hurt).

Day 49 of 100 Days of 100 Ways To Rule Your World

BEFRIEND COWORKERS

Expand your internal network by making friends with your co-workers. However, don’t overdo it. It may be easy to get started; it is even easier to get carried away. While it is not a problem to socialize with your co-workers, it can become a problem when you become a supervisor. Show a little restraint now and you will thank yourself later.

Make friends now and they can become your strongest allies later. Show genuine and authentic friendship and you might just make someone a lifelong friend.

Home Is To Stay At Home – Day 48

Day 48 of 100 Days of 100 Ways To Rule Your World

HOME IS TO STAY AT HOME

There is something that can be said about the individual that can leave WORK at WORK when the whistle blows 5 o’clock and can also leave HOME at HOME when the whistle blows in the morning.

Imagine being able to turn off all your “at home” worries and solely focus on the job at hand?

Imagine being able to turn off all the day’s events and have a restful and peaceful evening at home with your family?

SOUND FAMILIAR?

It should because it’s what I wrote in the last way. Now let’s flip the last way on the B-side and look at it from the perspective of work.

When you were hired, you were hired to do a job for your employer who would in turn give you compensation for doing that job. A reality is that many of us bring our home into the workplace. We take calls from our kids, emails from friends, and so on.

So what do you do? You curtail your interactions. Notice I wrote “curtail” and not completely cut off your interactions. In a tight economy everyone must do more with less and that means that your employer is going to expect you to do more of your job and less socializing, less time spent off the job when you are supposed to be on the job.

This might sound harsh but understand in an economy that is taking no prisoners there is no room for slacking off or the perception of slacking off.

That’s why you must enlist the help of your friends and family to get them to support you in keeping the calls and distractions down to a minimum.

Emergencies are understandable and expected. That’s life but living in a constant state of Emergency is not understandable and definitely NOT expected nor tolerated by the employer. So do what you can now otherwise it may be too late.

Now, get back to work.
