A new week. A new opportunity to get it right. Every day, we wake up and think to ourselves today is going to be the day. We think that today is going to be the make it day. That one day when we get everything we ever wanted.
At the end of the day, what happens when it did not happen? You tried, worked, and hustled but did it happen. That’s all right. So long as you hustle and work hard then you have nothing to worry about. Sure, no one signed an $800K check or you made the NYTimes Bestseller List but so long as you took the necessary steps to get there you did it! You made it because you are making it happen.
Give the substance, provide value and the worth is there and that is a very good thing.
The value and substance we provide others is always a direct reflection of whom we hang out with. We tend to become just like the people we hang out with. Remember, Mom telling you to hang out with the right people. Get to know the right people. Well, who are the right people?
The rich kids, the sportos, the geeks, the freaks, the wastoids?
Your mom probably told you to hang out with the popular kids and not the bad kids. Unfortunately, nine times out of ten the popular kids are not only the bad kids but also the worst kids of all. So what then?
The take away is that Mom is not always right, especially when it comes to hanging out with the right kids.
The thing is people will naturally gravitate to people like them. So don’t force the issue Mom. Like-minded individuals will find each other. Always.
When it comes to moving past what is beyond arm’s reach, we know we can do it. How do we know this?
We know this because we can see it, we can think it, and we can imagine it. Therefore, we can believe it.
And as the saying goes if you can imagine it, you can achieve it. Yes, it is that simple.
You can make it real. You can make all your hopes and dreams a reality.
However, you have to just start, then continue, and before you know it, the rest will take care of itself.
Providing substance and value is a very difficult thing to do. In a world full of individuals that offer so much and bring so many different perspectives it can be difficult to give everything to everyone.
It is also very easy to fall into the mix of wanting to be like everyone else and wanting to have what they have.
You do not have to please everyone. You do not have to have what everyone has.
Be filled with value that you can freely give away and share. Be filled with authenticity because NOT every transaction has to be something for something.
You should be prepared to provide value to whomever you meet. Remember, I said value not an opportunity to make a sale. People know from the moment they meet you whether a sale is going to happen or not. However, what they do not know is how much value you are going to give them sale or no sale.
Give truth and provide value.
Giving truth and providing value is very subjective. As I have learned the hard way, most people fall into one of three categories:
- They believe their version of the truth
- They believe others and don’t bother with your version of the truth
- They don’t believe you not matter what you say (including the sky is blue)
Then there are those rare few that: Will believe you with caution (as they very well should).
Yes, I have had my fair share of dealing with the first three almost all my life. For some reason or another, I find myself dealing with those individuals more and more. However, I do not invest time, energy, and effort in fighting any of those first three to believe me. I do this because I have realized when you base your worth on the opinions of others you automatically fail. Once I learned to ignore the opinions of others and focus only on myself then the naysayers were harder and harder to listen or pay attention to.
Those that refused to accept my truth; honesty and the value I can bring to them quickly fell to the wayside and no longer have any power over me.
Whom do you give unnecessary power to? Who doesn’t believe you especially when you bring the truth?
