FEAR

FEAR – January 14, 2016

Fear is with us all our lives. From the moment we are born to the moment we take our last breath fear is all around us.

While fear is all around us it does not have to consume us. When it does consume us and surrounds us we must work that much harder to escape it. However, by accepting that fear is a natural byproduct of living then we can not only embrace the fear but control it. Controlling fear is the first step of many in moving towards a life based on respect of fear but on thriving because of it. Thriving in the sense that fear is a momentary catalyst that can either drive us head first into the unknown or stop us in our tracks because of what the the unknown may or may not bring.

As a leader, you must use fear as the catapult towards moving successfully past it.

FEAR-1

Did you win the Powerball lottery, last night?

Unless you live in California, Tennessee, or Florida I can pretty much guarantee you did not win the $1.5Billion.

I can also pretty much guarantee that you did think about what you would do with all that money. You probably had a very deep discussion as to exactly who was going to get what and who was getting nothing.

Thinking about the winnings was motivation enough to get you off your backside and buy those lottery tickets.

Then again, there are plenty of others that are paralyzed by fear at the thought of suddenly becoming rich and famous (or infamous)? Is it the same reason that countless others just can’t move forward?

Is it fear? Is it fear of the unknown? Is that what prevents them, you, or me from taking that first step into changing thoughts into action?

Take action and I can guarantee that the level of fear you possess will be lower. Take another step further into action and the level of fear will again be lowered. Continue moving forward and I guarantee fear of whatever was holding you back will be all but gone (remember having a little fear is a good thing).

FEAR-2

One of the biggest fears that I have encountered not just in myself but in so many others is the fear of being unsuccessful.

It is unfortunate that we live in a world where people are elevated to a level of “god” like status all because others perceive them as successful. Everyone else does not stand a chance.

Too many people worry about what others think and believe of them than to worry and care about what they truly think and believe of themselves.

Too many people live with the old mindset of “what will the neighbors think?”

Well guess what? The neighbors have their own problems and if wondering what I think of them is one of those problems rest assured they deserve to be exactly where they are!

So long as you worry about yourself and do what you want and believe to be good for you then you have truly let go of the fear of being “unsuccessful” in the minds of others (and ultimately yourself).

Remember, you have no one to impress but the person you see in the mirror everyday. So don’t worry about anyone else as your success comes from you.

FEAR-3

Just like everything else fear can grow or shrink. It is all based on what you do with it.

Just like mastering the guitar, the more you play the better you become. The less you play the longer it takes to master.

It is all about the motivation to get up and do something about it.

Motivation comes from only one place. Just like fear comes from within you, motivation comes from within you, as well.

The more motivated you are the more apt you are to do something as opposed to fear.

The more fear you have the more apt you are NOT going to do something about it.

Do something NOW!

FEAR-4

You are a leader for a reason. Have fear but know that you must lead. That’s not negotiable.
