Core of Eight – Overcome Your Limitations

This section should be titled “OVERCOME YOUR SELF-IMPOSED LIMITATIONS”! There is an old saying that goes something like this: “we are our worst enemy.” However, the actual quote, attributed to Friedrich Nietzsche, is “The worst enemy you can meet will always be yourself; you lie in wait for yourself in caverns and forests.” For all intents and purposes this means, that we are our own biggest and greatest obstacle to our own success and all that comes with it.

These self-imposed obstacles or limitations are usually born out of our own negative thoughts, self-doubt, and self-sabotaging behaviors. When we create these obstacles, they have this nasty habit of stopping us dead in our tracks. We become combat ineffective meaning we can no longer sustain and win the fight.

These self-imposed limitations occur, almost predictably, when we remove distractions (people and things) and are left with just ourselves and this is where (and when) the negativity creeps in. This “negativity” is more commonly known as Imposter Syndrome. The imposter syndrome grows to become a huge debilitating monster. Debilitating in that we stop our operations; we leave things unfinished. We become unmotivated because we doubt ourselves and we question whether we truly deserve to be where we want to be. Clearly, you have what it takes because to have imposter syndrome you created or started something very worthy of being questioned.

The answer is YES, you are worthy. The response to that answer lays within you. It is up to you to act and move through, over, under, or around the obstacle and keep driving forward. Driving forward also means you do not have the luxury of time to figure out what to do about those obstacles.

As you move past the obstacle, realize if you can move past one, you can move past any self-imposed limitation. The next logical step is to remember; you are worthy and STOP LIMITING YOURSELF!
